Print workflow · Advice and implementation

Automate your print workflow.
From order to RIP.

Which version is approved? Has the job reached the right RIP? These questions take time away from production. We connect orders, artwork checks, approvals and handovers into a traceable workflow. Advice, implementation and suitable software support less manual work and free up capacity.

What we handle

A clear assignment.
Practical delivery.

Workflow consulting and process planning

We examine processes with order handling, prepress and production staff. Where do people search for information or copy files? We create a plan with responsibilities, dependencies and a manageable first automation step.

Connect orders and file versions

Product, quantity, material and artwork must belong to the same order. We define system relationships and an authoritative file version. Linking check results to that version helps prevent outdated artwork being passed on unnoticed.

Approval management with clear rules

We design customer and internal approvals with clear roles and status changes. The workflow records the approved version and changes requiring renewed approval. Exceptions needing professional judgement follow an explicit decision path.

RIP integration and controlled handover

We examine how approved jobs can reach your RIP (Raster Image Processor) with suitable settings. Available interfaces, software versions and licences determine the approach. File assignment, target queues and permitted handovers are agreed and tested with your production team.

Status updates and exception handling

Where systems provide feedback, we combine acceptance, processing and errors in an overview. Transferring a file does not mean production is complete. Failed handovers and retries follow defined rules and responsibilities.

Develop custom SaaS portals

SaaS means Software as a Service: a hosted application accessed through a browser. We develop order, approval or status portals for your team or customers, connected to the agreed workflow. Operations, access and data storage are defined beforehand.

An example from everyday print business

Example: New artwork after customer approval

Starting point

A customer sends updated artwork after approval. Several versions sit in emails and folders. Production staff must ask which one they can use.

Our assignment

We connect artwork to its order, identify the new version and define renewed approval. Only the confirmed version, with its technical checks completed, may follow the agreed path to the intended RIP queue.

What changes

Your team sees version, approval and available handover status together. The aim is a clear decision chain, with unresolved cases visible for action.

How we work together

From your task to implementation.

  1. Understand the process

We review typical jobs, systems and handovers with the people who work with them every day.

  2. Agree the solution

We assess interfaces and define rules, approvals, scope, price and acceptance criteria for the first step.

  3. Implement and test

We integrate the solution, test normal and exceptional cases and agree its introduction together.

FAQ

Questions about this service

How does print workflow automation differ from preflight?

Preflight checks a file’s technical properties. The workflow also establishes the relevant order and version, who approves it and when handover is allowed. Both services complement each other. Existing checking tools can be used where their interfaces permit integration.

Can our existing RIP be connected?

We assess your system, version and licences first. APIs, JDF/XJDF or hot folders may be options where supported. We establish available controls and status feedback before committing to an implementation.

Do we need to change our entire operation?

No. We can begin with a focused process, such as customer approvals or a particular production handover. Existing systems and established practices inform the design. Experience from this first implementation helps determine which further steps would be useful.

What does developing a SaaS solution include?

We define roles, functions and integrations, then develop the agreed browser application. Hosting, permissions, backups, updates and support are explicitly agreed around your requirements and systems.
